Dedicated Server Hosting
Here at Powernet we are fussy about how and what we run on our servers, so we understand our clients' needs for a dedicated hosting environment. Dedicated servers offer any organisation unrivalled flexibility, security, performance and reliability. As it's your server, you choose the operating system and installed software, and can determine the amount of storage space your web site will require. Powergroup can provide the rackspace, power and bandwidth.
For our not so geeky clients Powernet can advise on web server hardware and software. We can install secure, base operating systems, be they Windows or Linux.
Location
Locating your server on-site at Powernet provides the perfect balance of bandwidth and cost. Connected to our fully resilient network infrastructure, your server is sited in either Milton Keynes or Telehouse, London, depending on your own location and requirements. Our server rooms at Milton Keynes and London are fully air conditioned and support most rack-mounted servers. You have full access to your server, including outside office hours by prior arrangement.
Maintenance
Powernet provide basic server maintenance, cold-rebooting your server as required. Frequent unarranged reboots out of office hours, or the installation of software or patches, are chargeable services.
Resiliency
Having a high level of resiliency is of paramount importance when relying on the operations of a third party to keep your server online, which after all may be key to the successful operation of your business. As well as offering a high level of technical support, we also offer a number of enhancements not readily found with many server hosting facilities.
Telehouse - Servers hosted by us in Telehouse Europe benefit from the security afforded by that organisation. Air conditioned rack space and a fully redundant power facility assure that your server operates smoothly.
Milton Keynes - Servers hosted at our Milton Keynes facility benefit from a range of features, these include full air-conditioning, UPS protection combined with a redundant diesel fueled main power generator and full fireproofing.
Server Monitoring
Our distributed monitoring system continually checks our network and all associated servers every five minutes of every day. Our engineers are alerted to any system problems by pager or SMS, and we can either contact you via an emergency 24 hour number or alternatively attempt a server reboot.

Security
Running a website or online application can potentially open you up to a multitude of security problems. Powernet offer a selection of security offerings but running on a dedicated server will enable us to maximise your security.
We highly recommend that on-site servers sit behind their own firewall, so that their integrity is not compromised. If you're not comfortable about configuring your own firewall, we are happy to undertake the work. Fully bespoke solutions are available, for both stand alone and collections of servers.
